2 Nights At Aquila Safari

This week I was treated to the experience of a lifetime. Literally the highlight of my year so far.

Aquila invited me and a couple other lovely influences from around Cape Town to stay for 2 nights to experience some of the activities they have to offer.
From spa treatments to safari rides we were treated like kings.

Situated about 2.5 hours from the city. In the small Karoo (my favrite place on earth) Aquila was a short drive to feel so far out of touch with the busy city chaos.

On arrival, we were poped into a safari truck and driven off to our first treat. We saw so many animals, my favorite being the ellies!!
We got to see the farms game many times everything from giraffe to lion (which they rescue from hunting farms). We were also treated to a surprise lunch on the top of a cliff that overlooked most of the farm.

After our game drive, we checked into our chalets, all I can say is they are lovely. My room overlooked the game farm with just an electrical fence between me and the game I felt like I was inside the wild reserve. My favrite part of the room was that I have an enclosed outdoor stone shower. So you can hear the lion roar in the distance at night as you shower.

On our second day after an AMAZING breakfast, (meals are buffet style and pretty much everything you could want for a meal is on that table - seconds for daaaaays!) we experienced the game from quad bikes. Firstly I have never been on a quad bike much less in a game reserve surrounded by wild animals but the moment the bike was explained and I took it for a test drive I was in heaven!
LOL I felt like such a badass, in reality, I was probably going like 10KM/H. This was the first time we saw the giraffe too.

After our time on the quads, we grabbed a quick bite to eat, I’m not sure why but whenever I’m in the Karoo I’m always starving. And headed to the spa for a 30-minute massage. And wow! I felt so relaxed afterward. Sarah and I made use of the lovely big heated pool after to clam our mussels and to enjoy the tranquility after our crazy quad adventure.

On our final morning, just before we left for home we were blessed with an incredible horse ride through the reserve, something I’ve never experienced through all my years of game reserve holidays. This has become my favorite way to see wildlife. There is truly nothing like being in nature, surrounded by wild on a horse, you can hear every sound, smell the clean air and if you know animals, pick up what your horse is feeling in the moment.

I left relaxed and happy, having experienced the best of what nature has to offer. Grateful that I live in a country so unique and glorious.

One of the best parts is that during winter they offer specials if you guys want to experience Aquila you can see what they offer here ->
