Staying Fit And Motivated In Winter

Now I don’t know about you but winter makes me want to curl up in bed with a big cup of tea, my Mac and watch series. So not only am I fighting the urge to snuggle all day but IM ALWAYS HUNGRY! I don’t mean i crave kale chips or flipping green smoothy’s. I crave burgers, chips dripping in oil, butter croissants, chocolate donuts, every and anything that’s fatty, chocolate, or bread like. I want it every day and I want it all day.
So, the way I avoid becoming total slob (and I very easily can become one, especially over weekends) I stick to a few rules in the cold winter months. I thought I would share them with you too because if summer bodies are made in winter, this is the time to really work hard at being fit and healthy.

1 SET GOALS:

This is probably the most important step for me, I’m very goal orientated so if I don’t set them haha well… I find myself in the middle of summer looking and feeling terrible! Remember to set realistic and easy goals in the beginning. At the moment eating well is one of my top goals. I started with eating well for 1 whole day, then two, three a week and so on.

2. FOLLOW A PROGRAM:
I find that following a program during winter helps me a lot! I love the Kayla Itsines programs but there are tons online that you can follow that will show great results.

3. BE STRONG:
Push yourself to do those last 5 sit-ups or the last part of the routine or the run at the end of your workout. I feel my best when I stay strong and push through to the end even if I don’t think I can make it.

4. STAY POSITIVE:
YOU CAN DO IT! that’s what I tell myself thought my workout sessions when my muscles are on fire or when I’m warm in bed and its cold outside. It’s the most exhilarating feeling having done what I thought I couldn’t.

5. UPDATE YOUR WARDROBE:
A new pair of running shorts or rain jacket can do wonders for motivation.

6. MUSIC:
Keep it fresh! New music during a run often helps me push myself that little bit further.

7. REMEMBER WHY YOU ARE DOING THIS:
Whether it is to lose those extra KG’s, or to keep healthy, or to run a marathon there will be days you don’t want to get out of bed or push yourself further because you ‘just can’t do it’ that’s when you need to remember why you are doing this. Whatever the reason at the end it comes down to willpower and how bad you want the end goal.
